Brownsboro Area Master Plan Background Brownsboro Area Master Plan Process is Underway Plans are to Complete Process in the Fall, 2007 The Oldham County Planning and Zoning office initiated plans last June to begin Oldham County's first of eight area master plans, called for in Oldham County's 2002 Comprehensive Plan--Outlook 2020. The Brownsboro Planning Area is the first planning area to undergo area master planning. The purpose of the process is to prepare a plan to guide the future of the Brownsboro Planning Area. The Planning and Zoning Office hosted two public events to kick-off the Area Master Planning process. The first, a community barbeque held June 19, 2006 at the John Black Community Center in Buckner featured a presentation by Randall Arendt, a nationally renowned landscape planner, site designer, author, lecturer, and an advocate of "conservation planning". Mr. Arendt provided a presentation and remarks, and answered questions during the Community BBQ . ![]() The Planning and Zoning Office organized the official Brownsboro Master Plan Kick-Off Meeting on June 26th at the Brownsboro Community Center. Over 80 Brownsboro area residents attend the event which marked the official start date of the planning stage for the Master Plan development. The Brownsboro Master Planning Task Force, comprised of Planning and Zoning officials and commissioners; magistrates representing the Brownsboro area; citizens; developers and builders; business people, and local representatives from Oldham Ahead and the Brownsboro Conservation Council, led a visioning session and gathered input for future meeting via a community survey. The meeting attendees developed a rough draft of a Vision Statement that was refined in later Task Force meetings. The Vision Statement is displayed above. The staff prepared 25 display boards depicting Brownsboro Area existing condition, the planning process, and goals, historic and scenic sites, and more. The informational boards yielded meaningful discussions and comments from the open house participants. The Oldham County Fiscal Court Magistrates that represent the Brownsboro area and several Planning and Zoning commissioners were among the officials attending the open house. The Planning Staff has continued the process by working with Task Force members to develop supporting objectives in February and March 2007 and by hosting a Brownsboro Village Master Plan workshop on March 20, 2007.
