Employment by Industry, 1970 – 2000 Data Released for Kentucky in January 2005

The Kentucky State Data Center produced Kentucky employment data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis Regional Economic Information System in January 2005.  The data reflect that as of 2000, service related jobs and government positions (to include education) accounted for the bulk of Oldham County employment, followed by construction, retail trade, and manufacturing.

Service related employment increased 54.3% from 1990-2000, followed by construction (47.3%). 

 

Farm sector positions declined 28.3 percent from 1990 to 2000.

 Manufacturing related jobs commanded the highest average salary for Oldham County workers ($44,676), while farm employment positions paid the lowest average salaries ($10,998).

The following data are extracted from the Kentucky Employment summary data table to compare Oldham County's performance with the Commonwealth at large.  (The State summary table excluded Construction sector data).  While the county greatly exceeded the rate of growth for the employment sectors displayed, the county's 2000 average salary for those sectors lagged the State averages with the exception of the Services Sector.
