Ordinances and Subdivision Regulations are being drafted, reviewed, coordinated, and considered by the Planning and Zoning Commission and Fiscal Court to support Outlook 2020, Oldham County's Comprehensive Plan. Oldham County officials have been inclusive with respect to drafting these documents. In addition to Planning and Zoning staff members, commissioners and elected officials, citizens and organizations with various interests with respect to land use and quality of life have been invited to help draft the ordinances and to reach a community consensus upon the content of the ordinances and regulations. Oldham Ahead has participated in this process, along with members of the building and development community, Chamber of Commerce, OCEDA, and others. While prolonging the time to draft and enact ordinances and regulations, the process has been successful in considering many views to draft ordinances that support the goals and objectives of the Comprehensive Plan. This page is designed to list the various ordinances that are enacted by The Oldham County Fiscal Court and posted on its website, www.oldhamcounty.net. We have extracted land-use and quality of life ordinances for viewing here. The county administration will post new ordinances as they are enacted, and also is undertaking a project to post existing ordinances. Please consider this page continually "under construction" as their work progresses.
Wastewater Treatment Ordinance Approved January 3 Click here to download the passed ordinance The Second Reading and Public Hearing for the proposed Oldham County Wastewater Treatment Ordinance took place Tuesday, January 3, 2006 during the Oldham County Fiscal Court meeting. The proposed ordinance requires that the adequacy of wastewater (sewer) treatment capacity to accommodate new development be considered in the development approval process. Oldham Ahead supports the hard work of the Oldham County Planning and Zoning Commission members, staff, and other citizens who labored to draft the ordinance. A committee made up of commission members and supported by Planning and Zoning staff, included the details needed for the commission to make fact-based decisions in considering proposed developments that would be served by sanitary sewers. The proposed ordinance was presented to the Commission at its April 26,2005 meeting and following a lengthy discussion, was passed. The first reading of the ordinance occurred during the December 20 Fiscal Court meeting. Kevin Eldridge, Chairman of Oldham County Planning and Zoning Commission stated the following in a letter requesting support of the ordinance: "Informed management of growth in this county is an issue of utmost importance. Whether you are for growth or against it, I think you would agree that all decisions made at the commission hearings need to be based on solid evidence. Ensuring that such quantitative data is presented for the commission to make those decisions is the sole issue at hand." Approximately 13 people spoke in favor of the Ordinance, to include Oldham Ahead Executive Director, Doug Wampler. You can watch video of the hearing by accessing the Oldham County website at www.oldhamcounty.net. (Once you are at the Home Page, look for the section, "Oldham County Links" at the bottom of the Home Page and click "Video"). The passing of this Ordinance follows the passage of the new Construction Site Run-off Ordinance on December 20th. Click here to read that Ordinance. What's next: Fiscal Court is expected to consider a Post-Construction Storm Water Ordinance next, with the first reading possibly on January 17. The ordinance establishes regulation for the control of post-construction storm water, pollutants and sediment to the streams and waterways of Oldham County. Click here to read the draft ordinance. We urge your support and for you to contact your magistrate to support this follow-on ordinance to the Construction Site Run-off Ordinance. Together, these three ordinance will help ensure the county meets state and federal laws and mandates and helps maintain the water quality of our streams, waterways, and watersheds.
