Public Opinion Survey Background:

In August 2001, Oldham Ahead contracted with Horizon Research International, a nationally respected Louisville market research firm,  to conduct a survey of Oldham County residents and assess opinion regarding quality of life, growth management, economic development and future development of Oldham County. The survey was conducted between Nov. 15 and Dec. 4, 2001 and was completed by 400 adults over 21 years old with a mix of incomes, ages, gender and length of residency in Oldham County.  The survey has a statistical margin of error at the 95 percent confidence level.

To our knowledge, this is the first comprehensive, professionally conducted survey conducted in the county addressing quality of life and growth challenges facing Oldham County citizens.

Oldham Ahead sponsored the survey in order to ensure that public and private community leaders and Oldham County citizens have reliable and timely data available regarding the views of county citizens as the county considers long range land use, education and economic development options.  The results of the survey, coupled with the 2000 Census Results and other recently available data should help county leaders and citizens make important decisions that will affect the future of the county which  the survey reveals, its citizens like so much.
